Sun Tropics Braised Bistek and Green Bean Stir Fry with Calamansi Dipping Sauce

Braised Bistek

Ingredients Directions
  • 3 lbs. of beef chuck roast or short rib (bone-in preferably)
  • 4 tbsp. Sun Tropics Calamansi Purée
  • 5 garlic cloves (minced)
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup chicken stock
  • 1 tbsp. sea salt
  • 2 tbsp. cane sugar
  • 1 tbsp. black pepper
  • 4 tbsp. oil
  • 3 medium onions cut into rings
  1. Put oven rack in middle position and preheat oven to 325°F.
  2. Pat beef dry and rub all over with the salt and pepper.
  3. Heat oil in an ovenproof 5-quart wide heavy pot over moderately high heat until hot but not smoking and brown beef on all sides, about 15 minutes total.
  4. Add garlic, soy sauce, cane sugar, Sun Tropics Calamansi puree, water, and chicken stock and bring to a boil.
  5. Cover pot tightly and braise in oven, until beef is very tender, approximately 3-3.5 hours total.
  6. In a separate pot, sautee’ onions in 2 tbsp. of oil until clear. Serve onions over beef.

 

Green Bean Stir Fry

Ingredients Directions
  • 1 tsp. grated ginger
  • 4 cloves finely-diced garlic
  • 3 sliced tomatoes
  • 4 tbsp. oil
  • 2 lbs. green beans
  • ½ cup sliced onions
  • 2 tbsp. SunTropics Calamansi Purée
  • 3 tbsp. oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp. black pepper
  • 2 tbsp. patis (fish sauce)

 

  1. In a wok, add in oil.
  2. Once heated add and sauté garlic, ginger and onion in oil for 2 minutes stirring occasionally.
  3. Add in the tomatoes and cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Add in the green beans, oyster sauce, patis, and black pepper.
  5. Stir with vegetables, for 3 minutes at moderate to high heat.
  6. Correct seasoning if required. Serve hot.

 

 

 

 

Calamansi dipping sauce

Ingredients Directions
  • 2 tbsp. Sun Tropics Calamansi Purée
  • 3 diced garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp. diced red onion
  • 2 tbsp. diced jalapeño (seeds removed)
  • 2 tbsp. cane sugar
  • ¼ cup cane vinegar
  • 2 tbsp. soy sauce
  1. Combine all ingredients and stir until sugar has dissolved.
  2. Allow 30 minutes for ingredients and flavors to combine before serving
